KKR vs GT IPL 2026 Match 60 Preview — Eden Gardens Hosts

📅 2026-05-15 • ✍️ IPL 2026

The three-time title holders, and the runners-up of the IPL 2020 season (KKR & GT) are at their home fortress after a frustrating loss in Match 57 to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. After a disappointing loss in Match 57 against RCB, KKR have arrived at their home venue for the final time as the defending runners up in this edition of the IPL 2020. Gujarat Titans, however, come into this match with a stellar five-match winning run, securing it to be one of the leading victims of IPL 2026. The 54% chance of winning is with the Boot Boys, which is up against the 46% with KKR with a crowd of more than 60,000 passionate Eden fans pushing their beloved Knight Riders with drama, skill and everything in between.

Kolkata Knight Riders — The Three-Time Champions

KKR's journey in IPL 2026 is a testament to the unpredictability of T20 cricket and the franchise's experience has been a roller coaster since their unexpected win to successfully defend the title in IPL 2024, claiming all three partitions at home and taking out opponents six times. Knight Raiders have had a wild ride but are still very close on the playoff progression chart with a four-win run in their last five matches and heading into Match 60.

They last lost to RCB in their fifth game when they scored 192/4 against RCB but could not make good use of the 19.1 overs that they received. The 71 runs made by Angkrish Raghuvanshi in just 46 deliveries stands out as a key point in the performance of KKR and this has made it evident how much promise the youngster holds in an IPL Match. But the erratic running that he did was not helpful to him during this process.

Gujarat Titans — Riding a Five-Match Winning Wave

The GT are the team that has left the hearts of cricket fans in India in awe. Led by the gentle yet steely touch of Shubman Gill, GT have achieved a remarkable turnaround in their form and are again in possession of a Gold Trophy medal. They have won their previous five matches, in fact, impressively by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals and the Punjab Kings.

Against Rajasthan Royals, GT wowed the viewers with a behemoth bowler engineered a clear 229/4 display in Match 56, surging 77 runs to the decisive victory in one of most dominating bowlers displays of the entire IPL 2026 season. The powerhouse of batting for GT has been B Sai Sudharsan, who has scored 501 runs on the season at a line-rate of some 145, second on the Orange cap table. With the spark of Jos Buttler (who ended the match 56 win with a 60 just off the bat last time) and the anchor of captain Shubman Gill and his consistency at the top of the order, GT's top three is one of the classics of the tournament.

Bowling attack is impressive too. South Africa pace man Kagiso Rabada has been absolutely superb with his pace and accuracy and have secured all his wickets at the right moments this season. In the previous game, Prasidh Krishna bowled 4/28, while he has proven to be GT's most economical bowler in the powerplay. Rashid Khan still has a job to do more or less — the Afghan leg-spinner is the supreme bowler, his wicket-taking and middle-overs control capabilities a hot-chocolate-marketing GT can boast of fewer than any other teams in the IPL.

Ground Factor

It's an enclosure for KKR's good memories: three IPL rings, numerous memorable Feeder's knocks and a heritage of the city's culture, beyond sports.

Throughout May, dews are a concern with temperatures of around 32-33°C and 65% humidity to be anticipated tonight, giving moderate dew conditions at Eden. The dew usually occurs by the 15th over of the second innings so bowlers find it difficult to hold the ball and can benefit the chasing team in death overs. The current season results strongly indicate the 'spinner' advantage at Eden is more prevalent than the ‘bat-first' advantage, so this is a toss of a bit of interest.

Conclusion

Gujarat Titans come into this game with a 54% win probability with their five-match winning streak and have two of the IPL's most in-form players in both B Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler. They have a strong bowling attack in which Rabada and Rashid Khan have played a pivotal role to go to the hand in this situation. But, KKR's home advantage and the sheer magic of an overflowing Eden Gardens and sheer brilliance of both Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Sunil Narine will more than make up for it. The missing link for KKR is the fitness of Varun Chakravarthy: In his presence KKR's spin department becomes much more competitive. Prediction: It may be a close call in Gujarat Titans 15-20 runs or 1-2 wickets, with B Sai Sudharsan the player of the match.
